About the Music Academies

A platform for Nordic cooperation in music education and mentorship during key stages of development.

Voksenåsen Music Academies is a long-term Nordic development platform for young musicians who are currently in training or in the transition phase from their studies to a professional music career.

Through masterclasses, academies, mentorship programs, production and performance venues, as well as modules on artistic leadership, health, and sustainability, the project strengthens expertise, networks, and career paths—and gives audiences access to high-quality art music.

The Norwegian Soloist Prize

The Norwegian Soloist Prize is a Norwegian music award established in 2005 thanks to a donation from businessman Bernt J. Fossum. The prize was created to “support young musicians and help Norwegian concert organizers and orchestras become acquainted with talented young Norwegian soloists.” In even-numbered years, the prize is awarded to a performer under the age of 20 during the Bergen International Festival. In odd-numbered years, the winner is selected from among nominated performers under the age of 30. The winner receives 100,000 kroner. The prize has been administered by Voksenåsen since 2022.
