Democracy in practice
About Nordic Youth Con
The Nordic Youth Conference for Democracy (NYCD) is an annual Nordic gathering for young people who want to shape the democracy of the future. The conference brings together engaged young people from across the Nordic region to strengthen democratic skills, inspire civic engagement, and build strong, lasting networks across national borders.
NYCD is a forum for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences related to democratic processes and current societal challenges. By bringing together young people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, the conference helps to strengthen Nordic solidarity and lays the foundation for long-term, sustainable youth cooperation in the region.
What really sets NYCD apart is that the conference has been developed by and for young people. The project is led by a working group consisting of ten young leaders from various Nordic countries. The working group is responsible for shaping the conference’s theme and direction, selecting participants, and managing communication and visibility on social media. They also play an active role in organizing the conference and designing the social program, ensuring relevant content, strong community bonds, and an authentic youth voice at every stage.
